FAQ

Answers to some of the most commonly asked questions

I hope you can find the answer to your questions below, however if you still have questions, then do not hesitate to get in touch to ask, or to arrange a free informal chat to meet me and see whether i am your 'cup of tea'.

At what point in my pregnancy should I attend a course?

That is entirely up to you! Each family and pregnancy is different, and some people prefer to begin their birth preparation much earlier than others - there is no right or wrong answer. Aiming for around 20 to 30 weeks pregnant is a good 'ball park' figure if you are uncertain.

I am over 35 weeks pregnant, is it too late to start a course?

Absolutely not! It's never too late to learn about your options during birth. If you have only just discovered us, and a group course is unavailable at short notice, then get in touch about a private 1-2-1 course, where we can tailor the content to your specific needs.

I am planning a c section. Is there any point in me booking?

Absolutely! We will cover caesarean birth in detail so you understand the process involved, your options during the birth, your recovery and impacts on the post partum period. You may also learn something that makes you reconsider whether caesarean birth is the right option for you and your baby.

Can i bring more than one birth partner?

We recognise that every family is different, and everybody requires different levels of support for a variety of reasons. We encourage birth partners to be as prepared as the pregnant person for birth, therefore will enable 1 birth partner to attend per pregnant person. If you have two or more birth partners, please get in touch before booking to ensure we have space. A nominal fee for additional birth partners may be charged to cover additional resources provided.

What's the difference between your birth prep and Hypnobirthing classes?

Both cover your rights in pregnancy and birth, anatomy and physiology, how to optimise your birth environment, and discussion around topics such as c section, induction and comfort measures. Hypnobirthing goes into the depths of the psychology of birth, and you will understand how your mind can influence your birth. You will also gain access to KGHypnobirthing resources such as relaxation tracks. The birth prep class will instead have a greater focus on infant feeding, the post partum period and common interventions. Both courses are evidence based in their content, and you may find that you wish to attend both.

Why should I book with you?

I appreciate that in the world of big national antenatal education providers, you may be nervous about booking a course with an independent provider, so let me reassure you! I have completed 2 FEDANT accredited training courses (KGHypnobirthing and Antenatal Education Practitioner with 'Willow Tree School of Health') and am a registered FEDANT antenatal education provider. On a personal level, I am committed to continuous professional development, incredibly passionate about scientific evidence, and passionate about empowering you to have a positive birth experience regardless of the path it takes. If you would like to have an informal chat to see if I am 'your cup of tea', then get in touch - i am confident that I can offer you something to transform your birth experience!
